Late last year, the Waltrips were contracted by Image Comics to draw and ink the second
and third issues of BoHoS (above). BoHoS, written by Maggie Whorf, is a comic
book "for teenage girls written by a teenage girl." The three issue mini-series was originally
assigned to Byron Penaranda, but due to other obligations, he was forced to leave the series,
and was replaced by the Waltrips. The twins were challenged this time by a need to match
the previous artist's style, and did so admirably, as can be seen below.
For more information, visit the
BoHoS website.

Currently, the Waltrips are working on a large variety of projects. First and foremost is the
three issue mini-series Tsunami Girl. While the covers are drawn by Japanese artist
Hajime Sorayama, the Waltrips bring life to Mark
Paniccia's written words on the pages of each issue. Like BoHoS, Tsunami Girl
is an exploration of urban culture, but with a much different twist.
Michelle Vincent, is a young deejay whose gimmick is that of playing the part of a "fetish android" -- Tsunami Girl, in the tradition of the "sexy robot". Allen Poe is the man assigned to interview her for the National Un-National. Little does he know that he's in for the bumpiest ride of his life! Complete with the world of payola, Russian mobsters, a crazed geneticist, and men in black, this story rocks! This is the first time in years that I'm looking forward to the next issue of a comic book! I hope that the story continues after this 3 issue run.
The Waltrips were allowed to use their own style in this book, and the influence of comics from Japan, America, and Europe are evident. Below is an example of their finished work prior to colorization, and after it has been colorized by Bad @ss (whose work complimented the twins' work very well indeed), and lettered by Denice Park. The three issue mini-series will be fully published by June or July. Check it out, you won't be sorry! More art to follow on this site soon!

Another project that I'm currently working on with the Waltrips is a series called Twilight, and it will blend the mysteries of the paranormal, meta-history (that's the study of the parts of history that gives academic historians headaches, such as lost lands, steel nails found in pre-neolithic rock strata, etc.), and the UFO cults. More info as it becomes available.
The final piece of news this quarter is a big secret. The Waltrips are preparing a comic book for a
Japanese company who will publish it here in the United States. Until things are finalized,
we can't say any more, but here's a sneak preview of some of the art. If you know what it
is, sshhhh! Don't tell anyone!
